Description

The body of this small burrowing skink is light brown to grey, usually with a dark spot at the base of each scale, that gives a finely speckled appearance. The belly is uniform creamy white, although it may be speckled beneath the tail.

Distribution

Northern part of the subcontinent, reaching southern limit in Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, north to Southern Angola and Somalia.

Breeding

In summer they lay 2 - 6 white, oval, soft-shelled eggs underground, particularly in old termitaria.

Diet

Small invertebrates.
