Rock Jasmine or Large Star Jasmine
Jasminum stenolobum
A scrambler with lance-shaped leaves. The plant carries fragrant, star-shaped flowers which are white in colour with pink below. It flowers more profusely in full sun. These are followed by black berries that attract birds to the garden. It can be pruned as a shrub as well as used as a climber.
Favours exposed rocky sites. Grows in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands and the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
The green berries turn black in colour when ripe.
