Suzanne Riezebos, a masters student in environmental sciences, of the University Wageningen in Holland, has joined the Kruger to Canyons Birding Route on a fourmonth internship programme as from the end of June 2008. Suzanne, 24, originally completed a bachelors degree in international development studies.
She is specialising in environmental policy and her thesis will focus on the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP). She will focus on the institutional structure driving ecotourism and community participation.
Suzanne's internship with the Kruger to Canyons Birding Route will incorporate two community based projects - the setting up of an indigenous nursery to underpin a carbon footprint management project and the establishment of a community owned guiding company based at the Bollanatto Tourism Centre.
Suzanne is based at the Bollanotto Tourism Centre on the main road to the Kruger National Park in Phalaborwa.
