The South African Tourism office in Amsterdam, in partnership with the South African/Dutch Chamber of Commerce (SANEC), recently held an auction at an exclusive golf day at Kasteel Engelenburg in Apeldoorn, Holland.280 Dutch companies raised a total of R74,400. The objective of the auction was to raise funds towards the protection of endangered animal species in South Africa.
Lente Roode, owner of the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), received a standing ovation after her speech where she stressed the importance of the survival of the HESC.
She has been invited to return to Holland to further the awareness among younger Dutch generations of the need to protect endangered animal species.
A delegation from South African Tourism in Holland visited the HESC on March 6, to hand over a cheque for the funds raised at the auction.
On the same day a non-profit charitable organisation in the USA dedicated to the conservation of wildlife, known as the US Friends of the Endangered Species, handed another donation to the HESC.Heidi and Allen Roberts are the committed and enthusiastic forces behind the US Friends of the HESC, and are responsible for the US$ cheque.
