Kruger's Nxanatseni region soccer players and supporters met at the Letaba soccer fields on Saturday, September 16, 2006 to celebrate as Jurie Snyman of the Maxi Group donated full kits and six soccer balls to the value of almost R30 000 to each of the region's six teams.
After the formalities, the Phalaborwa Vultures, Mighty Elephants (Olifants Camp), Hungry Lions (Letaba), Mopani Buffalos, Fish Eagles (Shingwedzi) and Punda Zebras braved the heat in a round robin mini-tournament. The day ended with a 'north-south' clash where two teams, elected by Rogin Mauda, played the Nxanatseni final. "The south thrashed the northern side," said Evans Mkhansi, section ranger of Phalaborwa.
