The Executive Director of the Kruger National Park, Dr Bandile Mkhize, recently received two prestigious "Mpumalanga Leaders and Achievers" Professional Management Review (PMR) awards on behalf of the institution.
Rated by Mpumalanga businesses, business associations, local and provincial government as well as trade unions, the awards included a "Diamond" for "Game Parks - First Overall" and a "Gold" for "Joint First Overall" for the KNP's contribution to Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).
These awards are given to "companies that do most to enhance the province's economic growth and development".
On receiving the award, Dr Mkhize pointed out that it was the hard work put in by KNP management and staff that led to these prestigious awards. "I would also like to thank the various organisations that saw fit to nominate and award the KNP with these awards. It is truly soul-satisfying to know that they appreciate the KNP for what it is worth.
"We assure both the public and private sector that we will not rest on our laurels but will strive to be South Africa's foremost conservation and tourist destination," he said.
It is not the first time that the KNP has been honoured by the PMR. The KNP achieved the "Diamond" award "First - Game Farms" in 2002 and a "Golden Arrow" award "Best in Game Farms and Lodges" in 1999.
